Size/EP: About 222MB per episode Extras vary by size and compressability Programs Used: GKnot, DAEMON Tools, mkvmerge, DVD Decryptor, etc. Container: MKV Video: XVID@1024kBit/s average bitrate Audio: 2xMP3 128kbps English, Japanese Subtitles: 1xSRT from DVD subtitle track English subtitles Favorite Music: Weird Al Yankovich Comments: Source appears to be very clean; which is good. Mini-Movie had to have the noise remover filter applied. Extras could be a bit better; or more numerous. I didnt encode the ADV previews or DVD credits, as those are mostly just a waste of space. The subtitles were processed by the subresync program; which also can turn VOBsubs into SRT files; saving space while allowing Gordian Knot to mux them into the stream properly. Why GKnot cant take straight VOBsubs or something else that doesnt require OCR is beyond me. If you burn these episodes 3-at-a-time, placing the DVD Extras folder on the last disc with episodes 25 and 26, you will get 9 CDs with an average 666MB/disc. That was done on purpose. Oh, and before I forget - this is a DUAL AUDIO release. Each episode contains both the English and Japanese audio track, as well as a subtitle track and chapters. One thing I wonder, is how the hell this thing got dubbed in the first place. It's the exact opposite of Japanese animation. It is somehow both episodic and yet maintains a sense of continuity at the same time. Usually in Japanese cartoons; you have a giant overarching plot, usually things like "Catch all the Pokemon", "Defeat Naraku", "Find the Philosophers Stone", or what have you. I guess the biggest 'overarching goal' would have to be "Graduate", which does happen in an acceptably short amount of time. Yet at the same time, to the untrained eye this show would resemble all those crappy school-related shows such as "My Gym Partner's A Monkey", "The Emperors New School", and even certain new episodes of "Ed, Edd, and Eddy". But it's really not. I've sometimes joked that if Cartoon Network were to try and create a Japanified version of "My Gym Partner's A Monkey", (a la "Demashitaa! Powerpuff Girls Z") it would probably end up as "Azumanga Daioh With Monkeys" or something. Hrm... note to self; dont rant all over the .NFO file.
